Ancient durable and beautiful, the formation of fiint began 80 million years ago. Knapped into tools, axes and engraving implements and shaped for building, it has been valued and traded for mil l ions of years.
Moving between naturalistic and abstract, the artist explores the synergies between the facets that appear during the knapping process and the compositions of cubist paintings.
Ceramic sculptures in blacks, whites and greys contain traces of the del icate colours that are revealed when the stones are cracked open.
East Angl ia is famous for its flint. Large-scale charcoal drawings, col lages and watercolours explore some of its architecture and tools.
